What UTI types should not be treated with fosfomycin?Fosfomycin is mainly used to treat uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections, especially simple bladder infections (acute cystitis) caused by common bacteria like E. coli. However, it is not suitable for all UTI types. Fosfomycin should not be used for kidney infections (pyelonephritis) because it does not reach high enough levels in kidney tissue to effectively clear the infection.
